For Candidates
Firefighter Career Expos
The Firefighter Career Expo is a family-friendly event hosted by the California Firefighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee (Cal-JAC) twice a year – once in Northern California and once in Southern California – to share what it takes to become a firefighter.
Whether you are actively interviewing with fire departments or just looking for inspiration for your career journey, the Career Expo is a great opportunity to learn more about the fire service and network with departments across the state.
At the Career Expo, you will have the opportunity to:
- Meet with fire department recruiters
-
Attend workshops presented by firefighters
-
Try out the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
- Learn what to expect on an entry-level firefighter written test
-
Find out about the FCTC Statewide Eligibility List (SEL) and how to get on it
- Take an up-close look at Fire Apparatus
-
Have your little ones participate in the fun Kid Physical Ability Test
-
Enjoy free refreshments and lunch.
If it is your first time attending one of our Career Expos, we invite you to watch "The Cal-JAC Firefighter Career Expo EXPLAINED" video below to get insider tips on what to expect and how best to prepare.
